Shoppers leave carts for ordinary reasons: a phone call, a doubt about delivery, a plan to compare prices later. Many of them still want the product. A friendly reminder is often all it takes.
Why WhatsApp
Messages on WhatsApp are opened far more often than marketing email, and customers can reply with a question in the same thread. That makes it a natural place for a reminder, as long as the customer has agreed to hear from you.
A three-part plan
- Wait before you message. Give the shopper time to finish on their own. About an hour is a sensible starting point.
- Send one clear reminder. Name the items, say they are still saved, and add one button to return to the checkout.
- Be ready for the reply. Many people answer with a question about size, delivery or payment. Have a person, or an AI agent trained on your help pages, answer quickly.
What to avoid
- Do not send more than one or two reminders.
- Do not discount every time. Offer help first, a discount only if you need one.
- Stop the moment the order is placed.
